About us

We are Steve and Katherine; a husband and wife team who launched Woodlands Home and Gifts at the beginning of 2022 to share our handmade crafts with you. We love to use sustainable, natural materials and heritage techniques to create gifts, homewares and decorative objects.

We are both teachers who have used crafting over the years to help us find a sense of work life balance and wellbeing; there's nothing we love more than getting out into the workshop or picking up a paintbrush on an evening.

After creating much loved candle holders for family one Christmas, Steve began his wood work journey. A few years later, Steve dipped his toes into the unknown world of business sharing his carpentry skills as 'Sawdust Steve'. The success and feedback have been a real boost to his confidence and have encouraged him to develop his skills and knowledge in all things wood! Katherine has enjoyed all kinds of crafting throughout her life, and has recently found her passion for watercolour painting and creating sea glass jewellery. Watching Steve flourish in the craft world, she wondered what could be achieved if they collaborated, and so, Woodlands Home and Gifts was started.

We create a small range of items which are available to purchase here on our website. Additionally, we are happy to talk to you about creating a bespoke piece if there is something specific that you would like.

When we aren't at work or crafting, we spend our time in the great outdoors; walking, fishing and working on our allotment. The natural world is hugely influential to us and we want to do what we can to protect it, preserve it, and care for it. As such, we use reclaimed and sustainable materials as much as possible. When posting our products, we choose to use as much plastic-free and biodegradable packaging as we can and are continually looking at ways to increase our eco-friendliness.

Thank you for being with us on our small business journey. We look forward to knowing you better.
